The Brokenwood Mysteries S6 Drama 18/11/2019
Sixth season of the sometimes quirky, usually light-hearted, crime drama from New Zealand which sees DI Mike Shepherd and DC Kristin Simms investigate murders in the small town of Brokenwood.
Vienna Blood S1 BBC2 18/11/2019
“As part of his research in understanding the criminal mind, junior doctor Max Liebermann is given permission to trail Inspector Oskar Rheinhardt”. Austrian-set crime thriller based on the best-selling Liebermann novels by Frank Tallis.
Mortel S1 Netflix 21/11/2019
“After making a deal with a supernatural figure, two high schoolers emerge with extraordinary powers and join forces to solve a murder”. Netflix Original series from France.
High Seas (Alta Mar) S2 Netflix 22/11/2019
“Two sisters discover disturbing family secrets after a string of mysterious deaths occur on a luxury ship traveling from Spain to Brazil in the 1940s”. Netflix Original series from Spain. Trailer below is Spanish only, follow the Netflix link above for one with subtitles.
Nobody’s Looking (Ninguém Tá Olhando) S1 Netflix 22/11/2019
“A new guardian “angelus” uncovers a secret behind the Angelus System’s bureaucracy that leads him to break its official rules about protecting humans”. Netflix Original series from Brazil. Trailer below is Portuguese only, follow the Netflix link above for one with subtitles.
Seaside Hotel (Badehotellet) S1 Walter P. 22/11/2019
“Think Downton Abbey meets Agatha Christie – a charming drama set beside the beautiful North sea sand dunes in 1920s Denmark. Chambermaid Fie is starting her first day of work at a rural beach hotel. Her father warns her not to fraternize with the bourgeois guests, but as secrets about each guest begin to unravel, the seemingly idyllic rural life is much more dramatic than Fie expected…”

New and returning British and US dramas – details
Hidden (Craith) S2 S4C 17/11/2019
“Cadi John (Sian Reese-Williams) and Owen Vaughan (Sion Alun Davies) return for a second series, as this time another murder leads them into the shadows of the slate-strewn mountains of Blaenau Ffestiniog to unlock more dark secrets”.
The Crown S3 Netflix 17/11/2019
Olivia Colman takes over as Queen Elizabeth II as the historical drama returns for a third series covering the years 1963 to 1977.
The War of the Worlds SS BBC1 17/11/2019
“Three-part adaptation of HG Wells’s classic tale of a Martian invasion of Earth”.
Cold Call S1 C5 18/11/2019
“A single mom gets caught up in a cold call scam that turns her world upside down”.
Flatmates S1 BBC2 18/11/2019 (TV Premiere)
“Two lads, three girls, one flat. Flatmates follows the lives of five teens as they take their first uncertain steps into adulthood whilst trying to fulfil the millennial dream”. We don’t usually list the TV premieres of series already available on the iPlayer as a BBC II! series but this one managed to slip under my radar entirely when it came out earlier this year. All 10 episodes are available now and it’s also getting a (very) late night airing on BBC2 nightly from Monday.
Rick & Morty S4P1 E4 20/11/2019
“Acclaimed animation following drunken scientist Rick and his easily influenced grandson Morty as they split their time between family life and inter-dimensional travels”. Primarily flagging this up for the change of UK channel for new episodes. Adult Swim ordered seventy new episodes of the series back in May 2018 which I’m now guessing probably means 7 seasons of 10 episodes given that season 4 is being released in two batches of 5. Seasons 1 to 3 are still on Netflix.
Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings S1 Netflix 22/11/2019
“Eight stories celebrating family, faith, love and forgiveness come to life in this series inspired by Dolly Parton’s iconic country music catalog”.
