Walter Presents announces premiere date for season 2 of German drama Bad Banks.

Delve back into the high-stakes world of finance as WALTER PRESENTS: BAD BANKS returns for a second season.

A reminder of the premise of the series for anyone who may not yet have caught the first season. When young banker Jana is unjustly fired from a prestigious bank in Luxembourg her dream role conveniently rolls into her lap… could it be too good to be true? This multi-award-winning release is set to get hearts racing and minds whirring as Jana’s explosive career plummets and peaks through the darker side of the financial world. After being wrongly fired, young and ambitious Jana is quickly recruited by a top competing bank in Frankfurt, thanks to the unexpected help of Christelle Leblanc, her former boss. Leaving her family behind, she moves to Germany where her drive and ambition quickly pay off and she manages to impress her new team and most crucially her new boss, banking supremo Gabriel Fenger. Despite this upwards trajectory and swift success, she soon realises that Leblanc has secretly been manipulating her, to her own advantage. Will Jana survive this merciless power play?

Season 2 picks up six months after the Deutsch Global Invest bank was left on the verge of a financial crisis. In the wreckage, young talent Jana is working her way back up the ranks. But personal ambition comes with a price…

After the catastrophe ending in riots and a merging of the two lead banks, new players are stirring up the traditional system. Christelle Leblanc has finally landed her promotion as the head of investment, and, after convincing CIG to keep her on, Jana is set to manage a new sector that will nurture sustainable financial talent. However, she still has scores to settle with Leblanc and is secretly pursuing her own agenda. Having relocated to Berlin, there are now new regulations, new opponents and old flames for Jana to overcome…

Following huge success in Germany, Bad Banks won a staggering 13 awards following its release in 2018 and was nominated for a further ten, including two Best Actress awards for Paula Beer (Jana Liekam) and two Best Actor award for Barry Atsma (Gabriel Fenger). Regular Walter Presents viewers may also recognise Atsma from his role in Walter Presents: The Blood Pact.
