Casting announced and filming commences on Viaplay’s Cold Courage.

The cast has been announced for Viaplay’s upcoming Finnish Original series Cold Courage – an 8 part drama based on the novel by Pekka Hiltunen – and filming has commenced.

The main characters Mari and Lia are played by Pihla Viitala (Deadwind) and Sofia Pekkari, a renowned theatre actress in her home country of Sweden. They are joined by British actors John Simm and Caroline Goodall.

Other key cast members include: Antti Reini, Elmer Bäck, Jonna Järnefelt, Rea Mauranen, Antti Virmavirta and Jussi Nikkilä. Other international actors include Jakob Eklund (Johan Falk), Arsher Ali (Line of Duty) and Peter Coonan (Love / Hate).

Filming is set to take place throughout the spring and summer in Dublin, London, Antwerp, Helsinki and Kainuu with the premiere scheduled for Spring 2020 exclusively on Viaplay.

Whilst in London Lia meets fellow Finn Mari who heads up a unit called the “Studio” whose goal is to remedy social injustices brought about by the undue influence of large companies. Eventually the question becomes will the Studio’s ends continue to justify its means?
